The Artist

About the Artist

March attended the University of Texas Fine Arts School, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art (painting and drawing). She also attended the University of Oslo, Norway, Fine Art School during one summer, concentrating in art and art history. March lived in Norway for a year and continues to visit there; these experiences have made a lasting impression on her art work. The night scenes, mountain and Nordic snow scenes in her pastels series 'Norwegian Nights' were especially inspired by her memories of that beautiful, exotic place, and of her visits to that country since.

Original Pastels:

I work in different series, using pastel and conte on charcoal paper, for my original pastel art works. Sizes vary from 11" x 17" to 18"x 24."

Prints:

These also available. All prints are reproduced on archival paper, using the finest quality of color reproduction.

Oil Paintings:

I use tropical images in many of my oil paintings, which range in size from 24" x 30" to 30" x 40", usually. Prints on archival paper are also available, and can be ordered in different sizes.

Framing:

My pastels and paintings are sold both framed and unframed, depending on the collector's preference. Any originals or prints can be ordered matted or matted/ framed.

Artist Statement

We all have our 'Favorite Places', etched into our life's memories, whether they be of a specific locale in an exotic land, a state of mind that brought joy and understanding, or a certain memorable, point in time that we cherish from our own, unique, individual journey we all make on this earth.

To be able to share a thought or perception, to recognize a special moment in time, when light and form come together to form meaningful content, and to capture that visual moment so that others, too, can appreciate it, is to celebrate life and our participation in it.

I frequently use an equivalent of the form of the "golden rectangle" in my artworks, especially in my pastels. Since the Renaissance, many artists and architects have proportioned their works to this form, as it is considered aesthetically pleasing.
